Stoney Creek Trail — Abbotsford, BC

Walk the Trail from North to South (in June, 2023)

At the start, looking north at Bateman Road. The parking lot and Bridge 1 are on the left.

Looking south with Bateman Road behind you, the Dog Corral is on the left and Bridge 1 on the right.

The Dog Corral is on your left while you are walking south.

Looking back after walking past the Dog Corral.

After the Dog Corral, you come to a wide open area called the Bowl. The Hearthstone Court entrance to the Trail is on your left.

With the Bowl on your right, you can just see the Dog Corral fence way back there. The Bowl Bench is on the left under the trees.

After going past the Bowl, you come to Bridge 2, the first of the three arched bridges on the Trail.

Here you are looking back at Bridge 2. Dogs on the trail will like this area, as there is easy access to the Creek on both sides of the bridge.

Looking south again, you are nearing Bridge 3. The Bateman soccer pitches are on your right.

Looking back before arriving at Bridge 3, you can see Joplin's bench on the left.

Just before crossing Bridge 3, you can see the Coachstone Way entrance ahead. After crossing, the Straightaway will be on your right.

From Bridge 3 looking west, you can see the large open area of Bateman Park and the soccer pitches.

After crossing Bridge 4, you can look down the Straightaway to the south. The Coachstone Way entrance is on your left.

Looking back along the Straightaway, the entrance to the Nursery Tree on your left while John's Bench is just visible way down on the right.

Here you are three quarters of the way along the Straightaway, approaching Bridge 4.

This is what you see from Bridge 4, looking back at where you just came from.

Looking ahead from Bridge 4, you can see Sadie's bench in the shade under the trees on the right.

Here you are looking back at Bridge 4 from Sadie's bench.

Looking south from Sadie's bench you can see two fallen alder trees on the right. The next photo was taken beside the second alder.

Here you are looking back (north) at Sadie's bench from the second fallen alder.

Looking ahead from the same place, Bridge 5, the broken bridge is ahead around that far corner.

The view looking back while standing on the end of one of the beams that supported Bridge 5.

Bridge 5 was badly damaged by the deluge from the infamous Atmospheric River the struck Abbotsford in November, 2021.

Looking back again—riprap placed on the flooded section of Trail makes it very difficult to continue walking south of Bridge 5.

After getting past the riprap, you are at The F0rks. The playground is on the left, Hemlock Hill is ahead, and Bridge 6 is down to the right.

Looking westward from the Forks down towards Bridge 6, the other bridge that was damaged during the Atmospheric River.

Looking down at the Forks from the north end of the Hemlock Hill section.

Standing in the same spot, looking the opposite direction, up Hemlock Hill.

Looking north, back to where the last photo was taken.

Looking ahead (south) from the same spot up the Hill.

Looking back (north) down the trail with a large maple on your left.

Looking up the Hill. If you looked to your right, you would see the large maple.

Looking to the west, there is the towering hemlock from which Hemlock Hill gets its name.

There is that large maple back there.

Turned around again, you can see a corner up under the trees. The Trail makes a sharp turn to the left up there.

At the corner there are several hemlock trees.

You look east from the corner towards the Latimer Street walkway. This is the south end of the Trail.

Looking back (west) from the Latimer Street walkway. You have walked about 1.1 kilometres and climbed about 45 metres since Bridge 1.
